As Revenue
Protection Unit, our team shares a drive to detect, discover and recover energy
losses that emanates from electricity theft. Electricity theft is when a
person/organisation deliberately consumes electricity without lawfully paying
for it. This can range from bypassing the electricity meter, stealing
electricity directly from our network or knowingly using electricity without
being registered to an electricity distributor and more. When this happens, an
elite team of Field Investigators and Back Office Analysts work together to
detect, discover and recover energy losses.
1) Revenue
Protection Analysts
From assessing,
collecting and disseminating raw intelligence to making real-time analytical
judgments regarding specific and potential losses and energy theft to
conducting studies to identify threats and trends, our back-office analysts are
critical to RPU’s ability to act proactively against growing energy losses and
theft.
Our back-office team
provides support to the Field Investigators by analysing data and arriving at
intelligence that guide the field investigations. They manage our service
desk, monitor performance and deal with escalated customer complaints.
With the back-office team, we move from working hard to working smart.

Protection Specialist (ELI)
From Auditing a
customer site as part of investigations for potential loss recovery which can
be morning, noon and sometimes at night, to interviewing customers and other
potential witnesses to build a case of energy theft, testifying in the court or
Regulatory Proceedings, we go the extra mile to improve the revenue of our
business and keep our customers safe from harmful and illegal connections

Step 1 – Application and Screening
You are advised to
review the job description, ensure the form is completed and thereafter attach
necessary documents. Applications are screened for eligibility and suitability.
Your application and documents will be treated confidentially by us and will only
be used for recruitment and selection purpose. Applicant are advised to ensure
that they have their graduate certificates as AEDC will not accept statement of
result. Any information discovered to
be falsified will be used against the applicant and will be grounds for
withdrawing an offer or terminating appointment at any time
Timeframe: The
initial screening process varies greatly and is dependent upon the completion
of application materials and the overall application volume.
Step 2 - Aptitude test
Applicants who pass
the preliminary screening will be contacted by email only to take a
timed online test. They will be allocated a REFERENCE NUMBER which
would they be referred to during the process. The test will be comprised
of multiple choice questions covering different topics. Logical reason,
situational judgement, critical thinking, numeric skills will be tested.
Timeframe:
Candidates will receive a pass/fail notification within 3 days of completing
the test.
Condition: Shortlisted candidates who
give out their reference number to a third party/staff are
automatically disqualified
Step 3 – Face to Face Interview
Applicants who pass
the aptitude test will be scheduled to attend a face to face interview. This interview
will be conducted by a select panel from the company. This interview will
be to determine the suitability of the candidate for the role and the culture
of the company.
Timeframe: Applicants who are shortlisted for
interview will be contacted within 1 week of completing the online test. They
will receive SMS or email.
Applicants who pass
the online test will be notified of interview 1 week after completing the test.
If you do not get any SMS/Email from us, then it means you were not successful.
On the day of the
interview, two or more candidates may be seen at a time depending on the number
for each day and each session will take at least 30 minutes.
Candidates are
advised to have refreshments with them should the wait period be longer than
anticipated.
Step 4 – Physical Fitness Test(PFT)
Due to the nature of
the job role (detailed in the job description) it is pertinent that all RPU officers be in good
physical and mental form. In view of this, Candidates who pass the interview
session will be required to pass a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) to be conducted
by trained HSE/Physical Fitness Instructors in simulated or real outdoor
environment.
Step 5 – Appointment Offer
Candidates who pass
all the stages of the assessement process will receive a Conditional
Appointment Offer (CAO) with a minimum of 6months probation period before being
confirmed in the role.
Timeframe: Candidates will receive their CAO shortly
after passing their PFT and will have five days to accept or reject the offer.
Step 6 – Training
Candidates who
successfully complete the steps will have a maximum of two weeks to assume
duty. After assumption, candidates will be taken through an onboarding program.
This program will consist of classroom training, tour of facilities and field operations.
Timeframe: The training may last between 2-4weeks.
(including orientation).
Step 7: Deployment/Assignment to
Locations
Flexibility is key
at AEDC. You must be prepared and willing to be assigned according to the needs
of the Revenue Protection Unit, as this is a condition for employment. All
officers should adhere to a mobility agreement, which states that as a Revenue
Protection Officer, you accept the posibility of transfer to any of our
franchise locations as a condition of your employment
New hires will be
deployed to their primary locations on the last day of their trainings.
Assuming duty in the location and completing documentations, there confirms
that the new hire is officially and AEDC employee.
Things to Consider
- If you are currently
employed, please be aware that you may be scheduled for testing and or a
dialogue during your regular working hours (i.e. midday/midweek), and
sometimes within a short timeframe.
- If you are on active National
Youth Service Corp, you must be within one month of completing your
service before applying.
- You may receive no more than
a two-week notice to report to duty upon successful application process
- Applicants who reside outside
the Federal Capital Territory should be aware that candidates must be
available for travel to the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, for
testing. Travel is at the applicant’s expense.
